In a recent Diablo 2 Resurrected livestream(opens in new tab) Game director Joe Shely, along with the game's associate director Joesph Piora, as well as community manager Adam Fletcher gave fans an update on all things Diablo 2 Resurrected, as well as providing a glimpse into the process in the lead up to the D2R Items game's release in the summer of next year.
During the stream during the stream, the group discussed how to play the Diablo 2 Resurrected battle pass (around the 39:15 mark in the video below) and also the forthcoming seasons in the game. "It's very important to us that we balance the things that you'd find inside the combat pass," Piepiora explained, "the way that they're extremely compelling, but they're also fair, we don't want to create any scenarios where players feel like they're paying to win. "To draw a clear line in between battle passes and Diablo 2 Resurrected's seasons Piepiora clarified that "the season's story is the same present in Diablo 2 Resurrected, in the same manner as you did when you played Diablo 3." The chapter-based mechanic will give players various objectives as they progress through the season and will allow players to earn game-related rewards in exchange for the characters they play. "All of the content for the season is absolutely free. It's not attached to the battle pass," Shely adds.
In order to clear up any confusion, Shely clarified that when Diablo 2 Resurrected launches on June 6 2023, 2023, it will not be launched immediately following season one. "Season one will start a few several weeks after the release of the game. the season will begin when season one begins the game will begin simultaneously, and everyone will be on the same starting point," the developer said. The features that allow for competition in Diablo 2 Resurrected (e.g. : leader boards) are apparently going to appear in the upcoming seasons therefore those who don't pay for early access won't be able to complain about any unfairness.
"Our major season updates are free, they're filled with new progression mechanics, new monsters , new adventures, new quests and content to go and take in," Piepiora continues "there's lots of things to look for and all that is included in the box price of the game you've purchased."
